Non-Invasive Cardiac Testing
Lake City Medical Center offers a variety of non-invasive cardiology procedures that are often the first step in diagnosing a possible problem in the cardiovascular system.
Treadmill Stress Tests - While walking on a treadmill the patient's heart is monitored to diagnose any potential problems.
- Echocardiograms - an ultrasound of the heart, allowing the cardiologist to assess the functions of the heart and chest.
- Electrocardiogram Monitoring - The rhythm of the heart is monitored for 24 to 48 hours to detect any problems which may require a pacemaker or medications.
Cardiovascular Imaging
Our Cardiac Catheterization lab, equipped with a specialized state-of-the-art imaging system, allows for excellent visualization of the blood vessels of the heart. During catheterization x-ray dye is injected into the coronary arteries to detect any blockages which may be present. This same procedure applies to peripheral vascular and renal angiography.

Surgery
Our Surgery Department provides quality care for inpatients and outpatients requiring surgical interventions. Our Same Day Surgery features the largest operating suites and the most advanced cardiac-telemetry in our service community. Specialty surgeries include: Laparoscopic assisted bowel resection and open bowel resections, Gall Bladder diagnosis and removal; hernia repair laparoscopic and open; carpal tunnel release; breast and skin biopsies, mastectomy; prostate brachytherapy, interstim therapy, arteriovenous fistula,
laparoscopic and endoscopic diagnostic procedures and kidney stone treatment, including lithotripsy.
Rehabilitation Services
Our Rehabilitation Center offers a broad range of services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. We provide inpatient and outpatient treatment. Our team of rehabilitation specialists customizes care to meet patient and family needs. We are committed to returning those individuals who have been impaired by accident or disease to their highest level of independence by optimizing abilities and skills in everyday activities. The purpose of rehabilitation is to improve the patient's function and maximize the potential for return to home, school, work and the community. Our staff of nine licensed clinical professionals have more than 50 years combined experience and expertise in wound care, pediatrics, pain management, orthopedics and neurologically impaired patients. The Center is located in the Medical Center Plaza-North, NW Medical Center Lane, across the street from the entrance to the Emergency Room of Lake City Medical Center.
Chemotherapy
The Lake City Medical Center Chemotherapy Department provides outpatient and inpatient chemotherapy treatment. We also provide blood transfusions, osteoporosis, and iron transfusions on an outpatient basis. Our outpatient chemotherapy department is open 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday – Friday.
Imaging Department
Lake City Medical Center is proud to announce that interventional radiology services are available in the community, and you no longer need to travel to Gainesville to have a needle biopsy or other interventional procedures. We have teamed up with board certified radiologists from Doctors Imaging Group and Vascular and Interventional Physicians of Gainesville. We continue to pride ourselves in offering state-of-the art imaging services locally in a clean, comfortable environment with superior customer service. We currently have a16 slice CT, Digital Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, 1.5 T MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, Ultrasound to include 4-D, Fluoroscopy, and general radiology.
Your primary care physician can easily view your images through our PACS tele-radiology system, and no longer needs to wait on hard copy films.
Emergency Department
Lake City Medical Center prides itself with an excellent Emergency Department. Come by and see our recently renovated waiting room and enjoy a comfortable atmosphere in clean, refreshing rooms. We pride ourselves in providing the best quality and customer friendly care. We are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In addition, we try to meet peak volume by operating an “Express Care” unit 7 days week, 11 AM to 11 PM. This area is designed to treat minor illnesses and injuries and helps to reduce long wait times.
